What Is A
Fluidic Manifold?
Fluidic Manifolds are a one-piece solution to controlling and directing reagents, chemicals, or other fluids through dozens of pathways to various destinations within an application. They allow for the easy connection of tubes, pumps, valves, sensors, and any other fluid control/testing device that is desired by the design engineers. Plastic Fluidic Manifolds are often chosen and integrated into new or updated devices to replace hundreds of tubes or stainless steel manifolds for their ease of use and installation, cost-effectiveness, range of materials, and flexibility of design.
Diffusion Bonded Manifolds
Diffusion bonded manifolds, also referred to as a fluidic hub or fluidic circuit, are utilized to concentrate many fluid paths into a small space while maintaining visibility and integrity of the fluid. Diffusion bonded manifolds made from engineering and high performance thermoplastics allow incredible flexibility of design with multiple layers, yet also provide excellent thermal, chemical, and physical properties. This combination of traits makes diffusion bonded manifolds a perfect solution for controlling and directing fluids in devices with temperature and pressure variations and harsh chemicals, including autoclave sterilization for medical applications.
Precision
Machined Manifolds
Precision machined performance thermoplastic manifolds are commonly selected when the manifold design does not require curved pathways or multiple layers. A machined manifold will have straight pathways, requiring only machining operations. This simplification of design allows machined thermoplastic manifolds to utilize a much wider range of high performance plastic materials. It also results in shorter lead times, faster prototyping, and cost savings for OEMs.
Fluidic Manifold Assemblies
Fluidic manifold assemblies can be designed with bonded or machined manifolds. A manifold assembly will typically integrate tubing, pumps, sensors, valves, or other devices to control or monitor/test the flow of fluids through the device. Many OEMs choose a manifold assembly from Piedmont CMG because it streamlines their supply chain and results in incredible cost savings. Any fluidic manifold assembly can be manufactured and tested to customer-specified requirements, ensuring that you receive a sub-assembly that is validated and ready to go right out of the box.
Why Use a Fluidic Manifold?
Performance plastic fluidic manifolds come in all shapes, sizes, colors, and materials. They are used in an ever-growing number of industries due to their convenience, cost-effectiveness, and versatility. Fluidic manifolds from Piedmont CMG have been used around the world in devices for Life Science, DNA & RNA Sequencing, Immunoassay, In Vitro Diagnostics (IVD), Biopharmaceutical, Aerospace, Oil & Gas, Food & Beverage, and many other industries and markets.
